Fifty Shades Freed resolves the plot lines left over from Fifty Shades Darker, giving Anastasia several opportunities to be more than just the damsel in distress, which is a nice touch. Both characters are freed – Anastasia to be stronger, Christian to be gentler, finding their own middle ground.
Given the direction the story goes, this should really have been titled, “Fifty Shades Lighter”, instead. You get a better understanding of both main characters than is presented in the compressed film adaptation, which omits some characters and subplots.
Yes, I gave in and read the whole trilogy, between seeing the first and second movies. Given that it started as fan fiction, it’s very well written, even if it’s barely a BDSM story. I doubt it would have had as much success if it was full-on BDSM.
An interesting plot, with some hot sex scenes, but weird dialogue that made it hard to invest in the characters.
