Feedback wanted – The Sex Coven’s First Warlock

This story idea has been rattling around in my head for a while and I was hoping some of the writers with more experience with paranormal stories could give me some feedback. This is my prologue to the story:

A hundred years ago, a succubus came to Westwich, Massachusetts. It seduced and drained man after man in the town. Its next target, Daniel Lambert, was married to a witch named Moira, who was three months pregnant at the time. Moira battled the succubus with her magic spells. In the process, Moira stole its powers, although Daniel was not saved.

Her daughter, who Moira named Miranda, was also affected by the magic of the battle, but not to the same degree. More would be needed to give Miranda the same powers.

As Moira mastered her new abilities, she determined a process to pass those powers to other witches. It would require Moira to use the succubus’ power to assume male form and impregnate an acolyte, while casting additional spells of fertility and empowerment that would affect both the acolyte and the child produced as a result.

Since Moira could not directly do this to Miranda, she devised a plan to do it indirectly, passing the powers first to another acolyte and then having that acolyte take Miranda as acolyte later on.

Thus began the Sex Coven of Westwich and the pattern of expansion it has pursued ever since. Each witch becomes pregnant once in becoming an acolyte, then impregnates two acolytes, five and fifteen years later, timed so that her second acolyte can take her now-adult birthed daughter as acolyte in turn.

Always a daughter. The catch to Moira’s plan was that a human witch transforming into male form did not actually change her genetics. The sperm that were produced still contained only X chromosomes, so all of the children born to the coven were female.

Until me. I’m Michael Watson, the first and only son born to the coven and half of the only pair of twins. When my birth mother Annette became an acolyte to my other mother Wanda, Wanda’s spells somehow affected the zygote’s split into identical twins, giving one half a Y chromosome, making me genetically and physically male, while otherwise my sister Jean’s identical twin.

Now I am expected to become the coven’s first warlock. If I survive an extraordinary spell to transform me to female form so I can get pregnant, that is.

Is that acceptable as a prologue? Or should I write the battle between Moira and the succubus in more depth instead and introduce Michael later on?

Amazon Sellers listing my books?

What’s going on?

Why does Amazon allow this? These vendors (and there are more that I didn’t screenshot) have not ordered any copies of my book (I’d know), but are clearly going to order them from Amazon in response to any customer foolish enough to order through them at these higher prices. How is this anything but a ripoff?

Blog Report – March 2019

Another new record for traffic on the blog for March. This graph pretty much says it all:

Growing…

Sharesome is responsible for most of the traffic growth, with Facebook a distant second. Twitter traffic has hardly grown at all.
