WIlliam Patnaude IV receives a journal in the mail. The foreword is written in 1955, claiming that Bill is about to be transported back to 1930, where he is destined to become his own great grandfather. Bill gets no further than the second entry, set in 1930, before he slams the journal down in disbelief – and disappears.
